The first UK edition, first impression, in the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper.With an introduction from Graham Greene.Published under the pseudonym Pilaff Bey, this cook book comprises aphrodisiac recipes, written by Florentine bookseller Giuseppe Orioli and British writer Norman Douglas. Orioli is best known for privately publishing the unexpurgated first edition of 'Lady Chatterley's Lover', as well as his long association with Norman Douglas. Recipes include black risotto, potted lobster, brain of veal, testicles of lamb and sweetbreads with mushrooms, among others. With designs from Bruce Roberts. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Dust wrapper back strip age toned, with handling marks to rear wrap. Losses of paper to back strip head and tail, repaired with tape. Chipping and small losses ot head and tail of rear wrap, repaired with tape. Major closed tear bisecting entirety of front wrap, repaired with tape to the reverse. Front flyleaf detached and affixed to front wrap to reverse with tape. Internally, firmly bound.
